Whatever you think about psychology, the time to deal with it is before your student goes to college.

Are you preparing your students for the most worldview-challenging class they’ll ever take in college?

Dr. Tim Rice, D. Min., LPC has written two distinctively Christian texts to ready students for the worldview challenges they’ll face in Psychology 101 and to introduce them to the study of God’s Greatest Creation -- the human mind.

Psychology 101 is on most lists of basic requirements. We have textbooks that teach the natural sciences like Physics and Chemistry from a Christian worldview, and now Dr. Tim Rice has provided a text that does the same for Psychology. This textbook is a welcome answer to the parent who is struggling to determine how to prepare kids for one of the most secular subjects in the early years of their student's college career.- Marti Niemann, Home Making with Teach <<Click here to go to the review.>>

Homeschool Psych: Preparing Christian Homeschoolers for Psychology 101 is a tremendous blessing for homeschoolers heading off to college campuses. The discussion over the need for Christian Psychologists in a predominantly atheistic field is very well written and provides good argument for young Christians to follow God into every area of science, including social sciences. - Donna Campos, Senior Product Reviewer for The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine, LLC. <<Read Donna's complete review here.>>

I appreciated that he kept to what he could state with certainty of Biblical doctrine avoiding interpretational differences. He uses the same tactful voice throughout as he describes psychology theories based on non-Christian worldviews.- Beverly Krueger, Eclectic Homeschool Online. <<Read Beverly's complete review here.>>

We have had two of our children go on to college and know first hand how valuable this tool would have been! We highly recommend it. - Lindley (R.O.C.K SOLID) <<Order from R.O.C.K SOLID>>

Psychology is an extremely divisive topic for Christians today. Yet despite it being one of the most commonly-taken college courses, many homeschool students never study it before encountering it in the university setting. While they may be prepared to answer the questions of humanism, evolution, relativism and naturalism, psychology classes may be the hardest battlefield of all. This text was designed to introduce students to psychology's concepts, underlying worldview assumptions, and the Christian criticism of psychology, while still providing suggestions for Christians joining the contemporary psychological conversation. - Christian Book Distributors <<Order from CBD>>

This is not just for homeschoolers. This material is for any Christian - especially Christians in any public school. - Jeanette K.

. . Bravo!  If a parent really wants to learn how to prepare their kid for the challenges of secular college life - they can find much guidance in your book. - Valerie A. Smith, MA, Psychology Professor.

Very informative and insightful. Any adolescent could read and understand what they have read. A great starting place for any sophomore, junior, or senior preparing to leave home for college! - K. Montgomery

I agree that Christians who take college psych, particularly in secular schools, need some warnings about issues as well as possible ridicule for expressing their beliefs in certain circles. You are wise to undertake this task so that freshmen are not blindsided. - L. Nichols, RNC, LCSW

It is a relief to find a Christian source to introduce our daughter to Psychology this next semester. I like the small assignments sprinkled through each chapter, with lots of Internet supplemental resources. Thank you again for helping us find such a good resource. We have already recommended it to others, and will continue to do so. - The Schmidt Family

I think you'll like it. I have a degree in Psychology from a secular U. If my kids ever decide to go to college, anywhere, I will definitely have them read this book. It's not a huge book, so it's not intimidating, and it's very well balanced, IMO. I like his overall take on things, and I wish I had this book back in my day. I would say it would make for a nice semester course for a high school elective. I would strongly urge Christian parents to address this topic one way or another if their child is college bound, especially if entering a secular campus.Psych 101 is usually a general ed requirement for all, and you do NOT want their first exposure to this field to be from the secualr U...trust. me. The author of this book understands this as well. - Nancy, Homeschool Reviews

Psychology has been one subject that has often intimidated homeschooling parents. Those who are of us have worried about what is going to happen to our children when they go to college and are faced with needing to HOMESCHOOL PSYCH: Preparing Christian Homeschool Students for Psychology 101 takes a lot of the worry and confusion out of preparing your student for College Psychology.Dr. Rice does not just explain things well (always a plus), but he also lets your student do his own research to see how and why the conclusions mentioned are correct. The curriculum is PRACTICAL, covering such topics as Modern Psychology, biological components of psychology, drugs, personality tests and so very much more. - Lynn Hogan, former editor of The Homeschooler's Notebook.

My 19yo dd, who graduated from public school, is going to be going to a local state university as a psych major. I wish SHE would have taken a course like this before entering that field. I pray all the time that her eyes will be wide open to the anti-Christian biases in the major and that she'll be prepared to leave that thinking in the text and not take it to heart. - Susan S., Homeschooling Mom

Dr. Rice realizes that Christians have varying views of psychology and is careful to avoid pushing his opinion on the student. His goal is only to introduce the student to what they will learn in a college classroom. Therefore, he keeps his opinions out and allows the parents to teach it in the context of their own views. As he says, "It is not the purpose of this text to settle any arguments between Christians". I highly recommend this textbook for students preparing for college. - Cindy Downes, Oklahoma Homeschool

I had an 'ah ha!' moment when you wrote that hsers have given up on psychology because it is tainted with evolutionary thinking, but the same is true for all the sciences, yet we still teach them. Great insight! - G. Bilby, Homeschooling grandmother
